Who is Jenny Abamu?
When I was in fifth grade, my teacher chastised me for being too analytical. I tried to chill out, but that trait never really left me. I love thinking—deeply and publicly.

This newsletter is my space to share musings, make unexpected connections, analyze patterns, and write about everything I observe. I write about everything from parenting, race, and work to publishing.
I titled it Reflections from a First-Generation Achiever because, like many immigrant children, I grew up with the idea that I had to succeed because I was in America. My life and work reflect that ethos.

Here’s a snapshot of my journey so far:
Worked as a teacher overseas
Graduated from Columbia University (my dream school)
Worked as a journalist, with bylines in numerous national and local outlets
Served as a U.S. diplomat and Foreign Service Officer
Keynote speaker for major events
Foreign policy analyst
Mother of two
Currently working on several books
On top of that, I’m the editor-in-chief of JAM CQ, a newsletter covering the intersection of cultural intelligence, industry, lifestyle, and current affairs.
I do a lot—so subscribe and try to keep up!
